Hello! I’m Caterina Chi. From a young age, I was filled with a passion for hands-on creativity and various imagination, which lighted my dream of becoming a product designer.

I believe, we, as designers, should bridge the gap between businesses and users, shaping experiences that cater to people’s needs while balancing practicality, sustainability, and manufacturability.

I’m deeply bond with the well-being of both humanity and the planet, and I aim to magnify my impact on design through thoughtful, functional, emotional and eco-conscious innovation.

Job Title: Product Design Intern

Project: Bell Tower Digital Reconstruction

Description: 

  • Collaborated in a specialized modeling team to digitally reconstruct Beijing’s historic Bell Tower for a public exhibition showcasing ancient Chinese architecture.

  • Translated traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery into detailed Rhino models, ensuring both authenticity and structural feasibility for 3D printing.

  • Worked closely with the 3D printing team to adapt models for fabrication, resolving geometric and material challenges under tight timelines.

  • Coordinated with media and documentation teams, providing visual assets and supporting the storytelling of the construction process.

  • Occasionally assisted interns from other departments by sharing modeling tips and problem-solving techniques, highlighting cross-disciplinary collaboration and design communication skills.

  • Gained deeper insight into combining cultural heritage with modern fabrication, while sharpening technical skills in Rhino, 3D Printing, and design-for-manufacturing.

Job Title: CMTEL Lab Assistant

Description: 

  • Maintained an organized and functional lab space by managing tools, materials, and workspace setup, ensuring smooth daily operations.

  • Supported teachers and students by answering questions, assisting with prototyping, and helping troubleshoot tools and processes.

  • Contributed to preparations for a Bio-Design exhibition by conducting trend research, helping with exhibition setup, and creating simple graphic materials under instructor guidance.

  • Collaborated with faculty on visual and spatial presentation, ensuring materials and ideas were communicated clearly and cohesively.
